Project Specification
Over 150 colleges and their wider communities across England are set to benefit from innovative, modern and inspiring facilities led by the Government and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). Aims are to increase the number of people participating in further education and raise achievement in every community. This included a new campus to house sports, engineering and construction facilities for Brooklands College.
The project involved the demolition of existing buildings and moving into a temporary accommodation on campus. Technimove were invited to conduct a full survey of the site, outlining areas such as site access and parking, as well as a lack of lifts and numerous classrooms to consider. Technimove had to envisage a temporary building which had not yet been erected. The temporary site would house all existing equipment including 200PC’s, 20 Printers, 5 Projectors and Interactive Whiteboards.
Technimove’s Solution
A full project plan and move schedule was devised to complete the decant on a Monday during half-term with a contingency set for the same Thursday. As with many college and school projects we thought it was important to set a contingency due to the potential of building and infrastructure works over running. As it happens, our team arrived on the Monday to find that overdue building works were causing access issue at the temporary site. As such we re-scheduled the project for the Wednesday to ensure that the decant was completed as quickly as possible, bearing in mind that further potential delays were planned.
Having devised placement plans for the ICT equipment in the temporary site we arrived on the Wednesday, decommissioned, wrapped and packed the equipment, moved all items to their new locations and recommissioned to the point of being live and ready to use.
Conclusion
Due to Technimove’s detailed pre-move preparation and understanding of potential set backs in undertaking decants in the educational sector we were able to complete the project with minimal disruption to continuing works to ready the school for the beginning of term.

Brooklands College were extremely happy with the migration and promised to use Technimove when the erection of the new College was completed to move the equipment in and carry on with business as usual.
