The Challenge
Zellis, a leading payroll and HR software and service provider for the UK and Ireland, approached Technimove to provide a Data Centre migration between two locations in Kochi, India. The project included the physical power down, disconnection, de-rack and pack of 48U rack of equipment (20 devices), as well as a full cable Audit of all devices prior to relocation at the site of origin. In-scope devices were then to be transported from the client’s old offices in Kochi to its new location within the city. There, equipment had to be unpacked, racked and cabled in line with rack plans and patching schedules.
The Solution
Technimove provided extensive project management and planning services, establishing clear communication channels from the initial kick off meeting throughout every phase of the project.
In Kochi, the team performed a comprehensive cable audit, documenting rack, device make, model, serial number and U position within the rack, as well as which device ports were populated. Following a professional analysis of the cable audit, Technimove procured new cables for the destination location, and determined destination rack plans and patching schedules.
Prior to the physical relocation, the team validated Zellis’ equipment against a provided inventory list, and then un-racked and packed the in-scope rack and cable equipment, along with mounting kits and accessories in a designated area. Technimove then safely transported the hardware to the new office location, where it was installed in line with rack plans and patching schedules.
The Result
Close collaboration between Technimove and Zellis’ IT team yielded a successful Data Centre relocation that was completed as planned, on time and without any negative impact on business operations.
